When the New Year is arriving you can see that Japan is decorated as one of the best in the world. All these celebrations and decorations starts from the 15th of December. Most of the people give the greeting cards on the New Year eve to their friends and family members.  December is regarded as the busiest month in Japan. You can see that there are many different parties and functions are taking place around in Japan. There are many different traditions that the Japanese people follow on the first day of New Year. First of all the Japanese people eat a traditional dish known as kabocha. At the end of the year the most important thing that the Japanese people do is to clean their houses and offices. This is a traditional ritual that the Japanese people follow. It is an extensive cleaning and will do by almost every family before the start of New Year. This is done because the Japanese people think that they have to welcome a New Year with the clean and clear state. After all the cleaning the next thing that the Japanese people do is to decorate their houses and office places from both inside and outside.

The next thing that the Japanese people do on the 1st of January is to eat the rice cake. This is a traditional dish that every Japanese love to eat and their New Year will not kick off without this dish. There are many different ways of making this rice cake. In now days world there are many automatic mocha-pounding machines with which you can make these cakes on home. This is just one simple dish but there are many others that the Japanese people made to welcome New Year.
